As an expert in the field, Dr. Beall offers training in non-verbal communication to groups or on a one-on-one basis:

JUST A FEW OF THE SEMINARS WE OFFER...

Reading and Responding to People More Effectively: The Basics of Body Language
This seminar teaches the basics of body language and helps people interpret the many pieces of communication that are often missed in interpersonal interactions. Approximately 60% of communication is nonverbal in nature. Research has found that individuals who excel at reading and using body language are more effective in sales interactions, are more persuasive, and are better at managing others. We will focus on the different areas of the body and face and will use a system called PERCEIVE TM to read body language.

Reading and Responding to Prospects' Hidden Communications
This seminar teaches salespeople how to read the nonverbal communications of prospects and how to use their own body language more effectively. We will examine the signs of openness and receptivity, and the nonverbal indications that a sales interaction is going well or poorly. We will then review research findings on the impressions that effective salespeople convey to others and the body language that communicates these impressions.

Male and Female Differences in Body Language: Sending the Messages that Matter
Although we have made great strides in attitudes about gender, scientific research has shown that men's and women's nonverbal communications often support the very stereotypes they disavow. The objective of this seminar is to show how male and female nonverbal communications can undercut other messages, and to teach both genders to use their nonverbal communications to make certain impressions.  In particular, there are situations in which the male style will be effective and situations in which the female style will be more advantageous.

Detecting Deception

Have you ever wondered if it's possible to tell when someone is lying?  Research shows that people exhibit specific nonverbal and verbal behaviors when they're not telling the truth and that individuals can become proficient at spotting deceit. This two-hour interactive seminar will introduce the best of current research on deception and will provide participants with opportunities to practice using this information in real life situations.  Topics to be addressed include:  When and why people lie; What types of lies people tell most often; Observable signals most frequently associated with lying; When one can detect deception and when one cannot.  The seminar is ideal for people in the legal, social services and human resources professions and for anyone else who is curious about how to tell fact from fiction.

Reading the Hidden Communications of Research Respondents

This seminar teaches qualitative researchers how to read the nonverbal communications of respondents.  Research has shown that effective moderators are sensitive to respondents' nonverbal communications and that they can use it to their advantage when conducting qualitative research. and will use a system called PERCEIVE TM.   The seminar will also explore some of the signs that a respondent is lying and how one can detect deception.  The last part of the seminar will discuss how moderators can use their own nonverbal behavior to achieve certain outcomes with respondents (e.g., establish rapport, increase disclosure, etc.).  To learn more about PERCEIVE TM, click here.
